Referrals & Fees

While we commonly receive referrals from General Practitioners (GPs), Paediatricians and school counsellors a referral is not always necessary. Contact us via email at admin@thechildanxietyclinic.com.au for further information.

    REBATES

    Medicare Rebates

Medicare rebates are available for psychological treatment delivered by registered Psychologists. By visiting your GP you can obtain a referral under Medicare’s Better Access to Mental Health Care program. This involves your GP preparing a Mental Health Treatment Plan which you will require before seeing a psychologist for treatment.

Under the Better Access initiative those eligible are entitled up to 10 individual sessions in a calendar year (1 January to 31 December) but your GP referral will only cover the first 6 sessions. After 6 sessions your referring doctor will make an assessment to determine whether further sessions are required.

Additional Clinical Services

From the 1st January 2025 additional fees will apply for:

  • liaison with schools and teachers

  • letters of support and input into Individual Education Planning

These fees are in keeping with those recommended by the Australian Psychological Society.

The following are included in the consultation fee:

  • communications with your general practitioner/referrer

  • responses to short emails and calls (less than 10 minutes)

  • scoring and interpretation of clinical measures
